VoIP, if not done correctly,
can have all sorts of problems such as echo, choppy reception, etc...
This problem is usually due to having a VoIP provider that is different
than your Internet service provider. If the two providers are not the
same, then there is no guarantee that CoS (Class of Service) will be
honored. CoS is a prioritization technique that gives a higher priority
to VoIP traffic than other types of traffic such as the traffic associated
with email or web browsing.
NeX3 solves these problems by providing what
is called end to end CoS. When VoIP traffic hits the NeX3
network, it is immediately given a higher priority. You may be wondering
if all this high priority VoIP traffic would slow down other traffic?
NeX3's policy is to never over subscribe it's
network. We run a world class fiber optic network and we monitor our
network's utilization 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to make sure there
is plenty of bandwidth for all Internet services! When NeX3
needs to route traffic through a peer or upstream provider which is sometimes
necessary, we make sure we only purchase peering agreements with providers
that honor CoS agreements. As VoIP becomes more popular, more and more
providers will need to honor CoS & NeX3
is already doing this today! By not over subscribing our Internet circuits, we end up paying a little
more to run our network but we feel this is necessary for several reasons.
If you are going to offer VoIP phone service, then we feel that it had
better be as good, if not better, than what you are use too. MDU owners
that bring NeX3's network into their property
automatically get a world class ISP (Internet Service Provider) with
end to end VoIP traffic prioritization and 24/7 utlization monitoring. |
